About
Us
| Leicestershire
Food Links was set up in 1999 as a not-for-profit co-operative
|
|
| company.
The idea of developing a company to help local producers get
in |
|
touch
with local consumers was born through an 18 month development pilot
project entitled "Food Futures", run in conjunction with
the national charity, the Soil Association and Leicestershire County
Council.
Our Mission
Our mission is to put local producers in touch with local consumers
and to achieve this we aim to:
- improve
the economic prospect of farmers;
-
provide better access to fresh, affordable food for consumers;
- protect
and improve the environment.
Leicestershire
is home to many farmers and producers and there is a variety of
high quality produce available in the county, including: pork, beef,
lamb, poultry, eggs, tomatoes, asparagus, cheeses, preserves, bread,
cakes, confectionery and much more.
Through buying local food, not only do local consumers get delicious
fresh goods, but they also help to cut pollution because local food
travels less distance. |
